Yes corn is safe to feed to your hamster. All hamster can eat corn from time to time. You can even find dried corn in a lot of commercial hamster foods. But only a few small pieces per pack. There is a reason behind this. It’s because corn is a little on the sweet side. Ever heard of the word “sweet corn”.

If you are going to feed your hamster this type of food it’s best to feed them no more than 2 to 3 small kernels per serving no more than 3 times a week. Corn is relatively safe for hamsters and majority of them will love eating this delicious tasty treat.

Please be aware not to feed your hamster this vegetable if you have covered it with butter, this is far too fatty for your hamster. It might taste delicious and they might enjoy it, but it sure is no good for your hamster overall diet.

Hamsters can eat both raw and steamed version of this food so the choice is up to you. We personally prefer to wrap this vegetable in tin foil and slap it on the BBQ or in the oven then cut off a few pieces for our hamsters.

Just remember when introducing your hamster to new foods it is best to introduce them gradually. Some hamsters might have a bad time with certain foods. So we encourage our readers to get a small amount of the food and feed it to their hamster. Wait 48 hours and see if your hamster has had any reactions to the food. If they have not had any issues it is safe to say you can feed them this type of food as part of a balanced diet.
