Can Hamsters Eat Oranges?

No Hamsters Can Not Eat Oranges. Oranges and all other citrus fruits have very high acidity levels. These can cause stomach issues and even diarrhoea. Not to mention the high sugar content which is also bad for your hamsters health.

Please note oranges are not toxic so if your hamster accidently licked up some orange juice or had a nibble of some orange they should be fine, but it’s best to keep this out of their diet!

Well although they are not toxic to your hamster they are extremely unhealthy. Due to their high acidic content they can have a negative impact on your hamster digestive systems. This could lead to diarrhoea, this can be fatal in hamsters, so it’s best you stay away from this fruit.

Let’s not forget the high sugar content that is found within oranges. High sugar can cause hamsters teeth to wear down quicker and even in some cases cause your little fury friend to get diabetes. If you really need to give your hamster a food that contains vitamin C you can try giving them Apple. This is both a healthy and beneficial snack for your hamster.

Although this fruit is not toxic to your pet hamster, the health issues that can come from eating them should be avoided.
