It sure is, all hamsters can eat watermelon. But you must ensure that you feed this fruit to them in moderation, like all fruits. Fruits contain large amounts of sugar and sugar can cause a lot of issues for your pet hamster if you give them too much. So stick to one small piece of watermelon a week.

Watermelons are full of a wide range of vitamins and antioxidants and not to mention a lot of water. This will help your hamster stay dehydrated. One reason why don’t over feed our hamster on this super fruit is due to it’s water content. Too much of a good thing can cause problems for your little fury friend. Too much water can lead to diohrrea, so remember to limit this snack.

Don’t feed your hamster the rind of a watermelon, it doesn’t taste nice. Nor does it offer any benefit for your hamster. Also it is best to avoid feeding your hamster the seeds contained in a watermelon. Cut them loose and give you hamster a small cube.

Please be aware that whenever you add new foods to your hamsters diet, you must introduce them slowly. So why not try our a small sample of watermelon with your hamster. See if it likes it or not. Just remember after 24 hours to remove any fresh food from your hamsters cage so it does not spoil.
